Messi Shines Again as Inter Miami Triumphs Over Nashville
Lionel Messi has set a new Major League Soccer record by scoring multiple goals in five consecutive games, leading Inter Miami to a 2-1 victory against Nashville. The Argentine star netted two goals, bringing his tally to 16 in 16 matches, tying with Nashville's Sam Surridge atop the scoring leaderboard. Messi's scoring streak began with double goals against Montreal and Columbus in May, followed by participation in the Club World Cup, where he scored once in four matches. Upon returning to the MLS, he continued his scoring spree with two goals against Montreal and New England Revolution before facing Nashville. He initiated the scoring with a low free-kick that slipped through the Nashville wall in the first half. Although Hany Mukhtar equalized for Nashville early in the second half, Messi quickly responded by capitalizing on a mistake from Nashville's goalkeeper to secure the win. This victory keeps Inter Miami in fifth place in the Eastern Conference, narrowing the gap to the league leaders, Philadelphia, with three games in hand.
